'Pupils of all faiths and none are comfortable in the school, where Christian values form the basis of school life.'
ISI 2023
The school aims to develop the whole child, in close partnership with parents, through a deeply embedded character programme grounded in Catholic principles, which will enable each girl to fulfil her potential through acquiring virtues in a climate that balances freedom with responsibility.
Our new co-educational Sixth Form will prepare our pupils for university life and the world of work through:
- A wider range of A-level courses.
- An enhanced careers and higher education programme.
- Opportunities for leadership in service - ‘together for others’ - in school and in the wider community.
- A new programme of formation in personal excellence which draws upon the Arete and Eudaimonia courses at The Laurels and The Cedars.
- The Tutorial system enhanced by academic mentoring and personalised advice and guidance careers and higher education.
- New study and common room facilities.
Since the schools were founded in 2013, our pupils have enjoyed the well-established benefits of single-sex education from 11 to 16:
- A nurturing and supportive environment.
- The Tutorial system which forges a strong home-school partnership focused upon the holistic formation of each boy and girl.
- The Arete and Eudaimonia programmes proper to each school, which focus upon the acquisition of virtue as a secure path to a happy, fulfilled life.
At TCLS we strive for personal excellence in a dynamic, supportive environment.
- Drawing on subject enthusiasm and expertise across both schools, Sixth Form pupils are encouraged to develop an intrinsic love for learning and to acquire the study skills and habits to allow them to reach their full academic potential.
- Small class sizes allow pupils to receive one-to-one attention and support in bridging the gap between GCSE and A-level study.
- Half-termly assessments in each subject provide parents and pupils with feedback on their academic progress and signals early intervention.
- A rich array of co-curricular activities and opportunities for service in the community.
