Community Service Projects – Together for Others

'In Gaudio Serviamus'

The PACT schools motto 'May we serve joyfully' takes on a particular importance for the boys and girls of the Sixth Form.

There are a wide range of opportunities for joyful service available to Sixth Form pupils, and each boy and girl is expected to do something. Here are some examples:

  • Helping with Learning Support in Maths and English
  • Running clubs for children at Oakwood, St Joseph's Primary School and younger pupils in The Laurels and The Cedars
  • Running a Homework Club for local primary school children
  • Delivering STEM workshops in collaboration with the Royal Institution for Year 5 pupils
  • Assisting in Year 7 and Year 8 Games lessons
  • Providing break and lunchtime drop-in subject support for younger pupils
  • Visits to the elderly
  • Helping out at the local Food Bank
  • Organising and supporting Fundraising charity events
  • Careers Volunteering Programme

It is in joyful service that young adults discover their life's vocation; that 'definite service' of which St John Henry Newman spoke: '[God] has committed some work to me which He has not committed to another'. (cf. Prayer of St John Henry Newman)

It is in joyful service that they can 'find themselves', by "making a sincere gift of self." (cf. Vatican II, Gaudium et Spes, 24).
