Curriculum Overview

A Level Courses

We offer 21 A level subjects and the Extended Project Qualification

At the start of the Lower Sixth, all pupils are expected to start the year attending classes in FOUR subjects, although most will drop down to THREE after a few weeks.

For most pupils, starting the year with four A Levels is an insurance policy, in case they find one of their subjects too difficult or not what they expected.

Pupils who wish to take Further Mathematics MUST take Mathematics A Level as well as TWO other subjects during the whole of the Lower Sixth. Following the Lower Sixth Examinations, as long as the pupil ends the year with a minimum secure Grade C in Further Mathematics, they can drop their fourth subject at the start of the Upper Sixth, so as to secure the highest grades possible with their remaining three.

All pupils are warmly encouraged to complete an Extended Project Qualification, which they can either begin at the start of the Lower Sixth and work on steadily until November of the U6, or start at the end of Lower Sixth and work on more intensely then and over the summer holidays.
